Lachenalia

Lachenalia is a South Africa genus with around 110 species (80 of those are found in the Cape region)and it belongs in the Hyacinthaceae family. Lachenalia are mostly winter growing bulbs that are dormant in summer, when best kept dry.

Lachenalia put on a spectacular display when they flower, ranging in colour from hot red, yellow, mauve and multi-coloured varieties. Lachenalia are very adaptable and are an easy to grow bulb giving a better display when they are crowded. Lachenalia are ideal for both pots and containers, clumps in the garden or as a low border display.

Attractive multi-coloured flowers in mauve, yellow and red. Suitable for pots or in a garden bed, very easy to grow and multiplies well.  Loves warmer areas.  Grows 7-10cm high.  Flowers September-November.
